The green Te - R vector represents our own ship's true course and speed.

The red Te - M vector represents the target's true course and speed.

Knowing the targets true heading (Te - M) is needed to determine who should Give Way or Stand On.

To establish Te - M, you must first apply your own ship's Te - R vector.
